APPRENTICE’S RESPONSIBILITY
ACADEMICS
Class Attendance
- Regular attendance is essential for success in the program. Apprentices must complete the state-mandated minimum of 144 classroom hours each year. If an apprentice’s absences make it impossible to meet the 144-hour requirement, they will be required to repeat the school year or will be dismissed from the program.
Academic Performance
- A minimum average of 70% must be maintained each year to advance to the next level of training/next year’s class.
- Commitment in the classroom is just as important as performance on the job site — both are key to becoming a successful electrician.
WORK ETHIC
At IEC, we hold our apprentices to the highest standards of professionalism while employed with one of our trusted contractors.
- We expect every apprentice to consistently demonstrate:
- Punctuality
- Reliability
- Safety Awareness
- Initiative
- A Positive Attitude
These core attributes are essential to your success as an IEC Apprentice – both in the classroom and on the job site.
OPPORTUNITY
Becoming an electrician is a smart, future-proof career choice. As our world grows more dependent on electrical and automated systems, the demand for skilled electricians continues to rise. With a projected shortage of electrical workers nationwide, job opportunities in the electrical construction industry are at an all-time high.
Best of all – this is a career that can’t be outsourced. Electricians are essential, local, and in demand now more than ever.
